Reset
A hard reset, also known as a factory reset or a reset through the iPhone settings, will erase all data from your iPhone. This includes apps, settings, contacts, photos, videos, and any other personal data stored on the device.
There are two primary methods to perform a reset:
- Settings Reset: Going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings will completely wipe the iPhone.
- iTunes or Finder Restore: Connecting your iPhone to a computer, opening iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later), selecting your device, and choosing the "Restore iPhone" option will also erase everything and reinstall the iOS software.
Before performing a hard reset, it's crucial to back up your iPhone using iCloud or iTunes/Finder on your computer to ensure you don't lose important data.
